| Subject: Is Lipton Green Tea Useful To Our Body? 2017-02-21, 8:16 pm | |
| Green tea is rich in healthy compounds, and Lipton's versions are no exception. For the greatest health benefits, however, stick to brewed teabags instead of iced tea from a bottle. Bottled versions are shorter on nutrients, and Lipton's sweetened green teas are relatively high in calories whereas brewed tea is calorie-free. Healthy Catechins
Green tea is rich in catechin polyphenols, antioxidants that may have disease-fighting properties. Research is mixed, but some studies show catechins help reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease, according to New York University's Langone Medical Center. The center also notes that green tea is linked to lower risk of colds and influenza, so drinking it may help you feel well throughout flu season. Sugar Warning
Lipton iced green teas are high in added sugar, which provides calories but no nutrients. Each cup of Lipton's peach-flavored iced green tea, for example, contains about 80 calories from sugar, while a cup of Lipton's passionfruit-mango iced green tea contains 50 sugar calories. Most women should get no more than 100 calories from added sugar per day, and men should consume no more than 150 added-sugar calories per day, according to the American Heart Association.
