When a planet goes into retrograde, it appears to move in the opposite direction than it normally travels. It’s said to have profound effects on our lives when planets move into retrograde, but all planets are different, which means they can all have a different retrograde effect.
Mercury has been in retrograde for about three weeks, but it also has two shadow periods at the beginning and end, which last two weeks each. This extends the amount of time Mercury’s retrograde makes an impact. Mercury is all about clear thinking, communication, truth, and travel, so when it moves into retrograde, the opposite tends to be the case. Many have attributed Mercury’s retrograde movements to the current political situation, and it’s not hard to see why.
However, like I said before, different planets have different retrograde effects, and Jupiter has just started going in reverse. First, Jupiter’s retrograde is much longer than Mercury’s although it doesn’t occur nearly as often. Second, Jupiter is said to rule wisdom, progress, and luck.
When it’s not in retrograde, it promotes movement, active changes, and new opportunities. Unlike Mercury though, the retrograde motion doesn’t mean these things come to a halt, it just means they occur more slowly than usual.
This gives people a chance to catch up. A lot of things are happening this year astrologically. The year of the rooster means things are going to be happening at full force, and at full speed. Jupiter’s retrograde is a chance for us to slow down, catch up, and get things back on the right track.
It’s a great time to focus on a tough decision, look at things from another person’s perspective, and tackle those challenges you’ve been putting off for the sake of other responsibilities.
You may find yourself thinking that astrology doesn’t really mean anything, but you could be wrong there. Recent studies have started to show that there is some truth to astrology, the locations of the planets in the solar system, and stars relative to our planet. It’s hard to ignore glaringly obvious signs or correlations when they’re staring you in the face. These signs are why scientists have been trying to both prove and disprove astrology for decades.
Is something false simply because we can’t explain it? Of course it isn’t; it just means we need to do all we can to gather evidence and prove our hypothesis. Only then will we be able to create a sound and viable conclusion. Astrology is no different.
